Join the staff bank at one of the UK's most prestigious independent hospitals, with a longstanding reputation for clinical excellence. At The London Clinic, you will have the opportunity to work alongside leading consultants and experienced critical care colleagues, contributing to the specialist care of patients with complex clinical needs.
It is an opportunity to bring your ICU expertise to a respected hospital, broaden your clinical experience and work with specialists across a range of disciplines, while retaining the flexibility of bank working.
Share your availability for day shifts that fit around your existing role and other commitments. Shifts are offered according to service requirements and your availability, with no guaranteed hours.
The role
Looking for ICU day shifts that work around your existing role or other commitments? Join The London Clinic's staff bank and bring your specialist skills to our 13 bed intensive care unit.
We are recruiting experienced Band 5 and Band 6 ICU nurses to care for patients with complex critical care needs. You will work alongside specialist nursing and medical colleagues, contributing your clinical experience to a team that relies on clear communication, collaboration and sound judgement.
With hourly rates of £28.18 for Band 5 equivalent shifts and £30.03 for Band 6 equivalent shifts, you can share your availability and take up available day shifts that suit your commitments.
As a bank nurse, you bring valuable experience to every shift. In our ICU, you will use that experience to assess patients' needs, deliver individualised care and respond to changes in their condition, working closely with nursing colleagues, ICU Fellows, Consultants, physiotherapists and pharmacists.
Alongside managing complex clinical care, you will provide reassurance and clear information to patients and their families, helping them understand what is happening at a difficult time.
For Band 6 equivalent shifts, your role will also include supporting bedside nurses and coordinating the shift, providing clinical guidance and helping the team manage changing priorities. A recognised post registration qualification in intensive care or critical care is essential for these shifts.
What you'll do
- Assessing, planning, implementing and evaluating individualised, evidence based care for your allocated patients.
- Managing critical care therapies within your competence, including mechanical ventilation, invasive haemodynamic monitoring, inotropic support and continuous renal replacement therapy.
- Recognising changes in patients' conditions, escalating concerns promptly and responding to emergencies.
- Administering medicines and treatments safely in line with hospital policies and professional guidance.
- Working collaboratively with the multidisciplinary team and communicating clearly with patients and their families.
- Maintaining accurate clinical records, providing structured handovers and completing daily safety checks.
- Supporting bedside nurses and coordinating the shift when undertaking Band 6 equivalent duties.
