Transaction Services - Mergers & Acquisitions

On-site in Manchester·Added 11 days ago (last checked 12 Oct)

The role

Programme
BrightStart Higher Apprenticeship

What does this team do?

When a company buys another company or splits from a larger firm, known as mergers and acquisitions, it creates lots of challenges.

Our Transaction Services teams provide both due diligence and other deal advisory services across a range of areas on M&A transactions. You'll be helping clients who are planning to buy, sell or take-over businesses with the execution of the deal. These are often large global deals with high profile clients.

What skills and academic qualifications do I need?

You'll need to have obtained or be studying towards a minimum of 104 UCAS points (if gained after 2017 - or 260 if before) from your top 3 A-Levels and have completed your studies by Summer 2027.

We have identified 10 core skills that are essential to all our roles in Early Careers. To learn more about these skills and their detailed descriptions, please visit the 'Discover What We Look For' section in our Candidate Zone.

What kind of work will I do?
As a member of our Transaction Services team, you will help clients during the merger and acquisition process through analysis, advice and reporting. You'll work on some of the largest and most complex acquisitions and joint ventures in the UK.

You will be allocated to an industry area to begin specialising in that area. You'll combine market-leading approaches with cutting-edge M&A technologies to deliver projects for high profile, often commercially sensitive deals. You will:

  • Develop an understanding of the target business and its drivers, interpreting information memoranda, business plans and publicly available information on the target business.
  • Review and evaluate important data projections and report on key issues identified.
  • Participate in various marketing initiatives and practice development activities.

Where will I work?

At Deloitte we recognise how important face-to-face interaction is for your development in a new role. We also understand that our people need flexibility, which is why we operate a hybrid system, with a combination of office and home working. If you're in a client-facing role, you might be expected to attend client sites on certain days, while your meetings will be a mix of online and in-person events. Please note your final assessment and induction will also be in-person, to give you the opportunity to network and build relationships.

All our work spaces are accessible, however, if you require further flexibility due to a health condition or caring responsibilities, please discuss this with our team. You can find further information on our parent and carer policies here.

How will I develop?

As a Brightstart within Transaction Services, you will complete the world-renowned ACA qualification. This is a 4 year, Level 7 Apprenticeship with the ICAEW and once completed, is the equivalent of a Master's Degree.

During your time on the Transaction Services apprenticeship, you will specialise in a specific industry area, becoming a specialist in your field. You will also have the opportunity to gain valuable experience, by spending time in other M&A offering areas. By gaining this broad experience, it will allow you to build a comprehensive understanding of the M&A business as a whole, develop key skills, and network across the team.

You'll begin with a comprehensive induction programme, equipping you with the skills and confidence to work with our clients. Ongoing professional development will be provided through your project team, mentoring, and a dedicated buddy.
