The role
What does this team do?
We work with clients to address complex planning and development challenges in real estate. From providing advice on large urban regeneration schemes, to promoting our client's interests in local planning processes, our work is always varied. We also prepare and manage planning applications for major commercial, retail, residential, institutional, culture and heritage, sport and infrastructure schemes.
We combine our planning consultancy skills with the expertise of colleagues specialising in Environmental Impact Assessment, Development Consultancy, Energy Infrastructure, Environmental, Social and Governance, Sustainability and Climate, Affordable Housing, and other areas, to address complex town planning and development challenges.
What skills and academic qualifications do I need?
To be eligible for this programme, you must be studying towards an RTPI partially or fully accredited degree, with a predicted grade of 2.1 or higher, as we want to ensure you have a passion for Real Estate and Planning. Your studies would need to be completed by Autumn 2027 for a September 2027 start date. We have identified 10 core skills that are essential to all our roles in Early Careers. To learn more about these skills and their detailed descriptions, please visit the 'Discover What We Look For' section in our Candidate Zone.
What kind of work will I do?
From day one you will be an integral cog in our team. You might be preparing draft advice, planning application documentation, monitoring local authority activity or working with project management tools to provide support to the project teams you'll work with. In turn you will be supported to take ownership of workstreams and activities so you can make a real impact on the high-profile work that we do.
We will involve you in client and stakeholder contact from an early stage which gives our graduates the skills and understanding of the wider context that we work in.
You will also be supported in undertaking key pieces of research to support project work as well as business development activities and our thought leadership. Your thoughts and opinions will be highly valued to help the entire team learn and develop.
Where will I work?
At Deloitte we recognise how important face-to-face interaction is for your development in a new role. We also understand that our people need flexibility, which is why we operate a hybrid system, with a combination of office and home working. If you're in a client-facing role, you might be expected to attend client sites on certain days, while your meetings will be a mix of online and in-person events. Please note your final assessment and induction will also be in-person, to give you the opportunity to network and build relationships.
All our work spaces are accessible, however, if you require further flexibility due to a health condition or caring responsibilities, please discuss this with our team. You can find further information on our parent and carer policies here.
How will I develop?
We are committed to an ongoing process of learning and development throughout your entire career at Deloitte. Upon completion of your RTPI-accredited degree, you will join our structured Graduate Development Programme, where you will receive comprehensive training, mentoring and coaching to support your professional growth. We are committed to helping you achieve RTPI Chartered Membership and will provide the guidance, experience and support needed to progress through the Assessment of Professional Competence (APC) process.
You will be encouraged to make the most of the Deloitte learning and development courses which is an extensive offer that is tailored to each stage of your development.
You will also be supported by the team to develop a wide range of skills and experience as well as developing a specialism if preferred. Your development is how we grow as a team so we are committed to your learning.
