The role
What does this team do?
The Forensic Technology team is responsible for identifying and gathering digital evidence around our client's biggest and most complex legal, regulatory and economic crime challenges. We help them to build solutions and conduct analysis so they can improve their overall operations and reduce risk to the business.
Our services help a varied client base, from small companies to large corporates with a global presence. We love working with data and we want to help our clients get the most from theirs, whether they are investigating potential fraud or supporting complex regulatory and legal matters. We work on highly sensitive and varied projects using new technology, combining investigative skills with technical expertise.
What skills and academic qualifications do I need?
You'll need to have obtained or be studying towards a minimum 2:1 in an undergraduate degree and have graduated by September 2027 for the Autumn 2027 intake. We have identified 10 core skills that are essential to all our roles in Early Careers. To learn more about these skills and their detailed descriptions, please visit the 'Discover What We Look For' section in our Candidate Zone.
Please note that to apply for this role you must be willing and eligible to apply for and obtain UK Security Check clearance, unless you already hold valid clearance.
The below link provides useful information about the eligibility criteria, provided by the UK Government. We ask anyone who applies to read this information carefully to ensure that you believe, to the best of your knowledge, that you will be able to obtain security clearance.
What kind of work will I do?
The work you do will depend on whether you join our Discovery or Data Analytics team. Before your interview, we'll reach out and ask you to indicate which team you prefer. Whichever team you join, you'll collaborate with colleagues across Forensic Technology and with other teams, including Financial Crime and Forensic Accounting.
Discovery
The Discovery team works with data, using something called EDRM cycle (Electronic Discovery Reference Model). We help our clients navigate legal and regulatory challenges using a variety of software and technology. We work with clients across the globe to quickly collect data and provide clients with valuable face-to-face support. Graduates joining our team may have the opportunity to be involved in:
- Digital forensics (identifying, preserving, and collecting digital evidence)
- Forensic investigations (analysing evidence for legal cases or cyber incidents)
- Using advanced eDiscovery platforms to manage, process and organise large volumes of data for review
- Filtering and preparing data for legal review, and using eDiscovery tools and technologies, including the use of AI to enhance efficiency
Data Analytics
The Data Analytics team specialises in the forensic analysis of diverse datasets, spanning financial, telecommunications, government, and public sector information, among others. We use lots of different tools and platforms, including SQL, Python, data visualisation, and network analytics, whilst actively expanding our capabilities in AI and Cloud platforms. You'll learn all these when you join us. Our work involves the meticulous collection, cleaning, and in-depth analysis of complex data to support our clients. Graduates joining our team may have the opportunity to be involved in:
- Collection, cleaning and in-depth analysis of complex data to deliver critical insights to clients
- Projects that provide robust evidence for class action or litigation cases
- Optimising fraud detection capabilities, and enabling clients to gain deeper, actionable understanding from their data
Where will I work?
At Deloitte we recognise how important face-to-face interaction is for your development in a new role. We also understand that our people need flexibility, which is why we operate a hybrid system, with a combination of office and home working. If you're in a client-facing role, you might be expected to attend client sites on certain days, while your meetings will be a mix of online and in-person events. Please note your final assessment and induction will also be in-person, to give you the opportunity to network and build relationships.
All our workspaces are accessible, however, if you require further flexibility due to a health condition or caring responsibilities, please discuss this with our team. You can find further information on our parent and carer policies here.
How will I develop?
The programme is a mixture of technical, business and industry-focused training, delivered through online platforms, as well as instructor led courses. No prior coding or technical skills are required, but to be successful you'll need a passion for technology and an inquisitive mind. You will obtain a grounding in areas such as investigative analysis, financial crime technology, machine learning techniques, big data tools, and digital evidence and forensic technology procedures. You'll receive additional specialist training depending on your specific assignments.
