The role

Are you an experienced data architecture leader who wants to shape the future of data and AI at Aviva?

This is an exciting opportunity to lead the Operational Data and Integration architecture capability across Aviva. You'll play a key role in shaping how trusted data moves across our business, helping us deliver better outcomes for customers, colleagues and the wider organisation.

Data is at the heart of Aviva's transformation, and this role will play a critical part in shaping the foundations that enable our future growth, digital ambitions and AI strategy. As Head of Operational Data & Integration, you'll lead the architecture vision for how data is created, managed, integrated and consumed across Aviva, ensuring trusted, secure and scalable data flows between operational systems, enterprise platforms and customer-facing services. Working closely with senior technology and business leaders, including the Data CIO and Group COO, you'll define the target-state architecture for operational, master and reference data capabilities that support business performance, regulatory requirements and innovation.

You'll balance long-term strategic direction with pragmatic delivery, creating standards, patterns and frameworks that allow teams to move quickly while maintaining consistency and control across the organisation. Alongside driving architectural excellence, you'll build and develop a growing team of specialists, helping establish the data foundations that underpin Aviva's ambitions for advanced analytics, AI and future business transformation.

  • Proven ability to influence and build credibility with executive stakeholders, translating complex technical concepts into clear business benefits, investment cases and target-state roadmaps.
  • Deep understanding of modern data, cloud and integration technologies, including SQL, NoSQL and object-store platforms, with the ability to establish architecture standards that enable both innovation and delivery at pace.
  • Experience building and leading high-performing architecture or engineering teams within complex organisations. Experience in insurance, financial services, AI-enabled data platforms or large-scale transformation programmes would be advantageous.
