• Taking ownership of a portfolio of strategic and operational initiatives, driving delivery from planning through to implementation.

• Translating senior leadership priorities into clear plans, milestones, responsibilities and measurable outcomes.

• Creating a joined-up view of the portfolio so leadership can see what's progressing, what's at risk and where decisions are needed.

• Working across multiple functions, managing dependencies, competing priorities, resources and delivery challenges.

• Establishing practical governance, reporting and ways of working that improve visibility and accountability without creating unnecessary bureaucracy.

• Building strong relationships with senior stakeholders and holding workstream owners accountable for their commitments.

• Identifying risks and blockers early, stepping in to resolve issues and getting off-track projects back on course.

• Providing clear, commercially focused updates to senior leadership, turning complex information into actionable insights.

• Challenging existing processes and finding smarter, more effective ways to deliver change.

Delivery Director - Strategic Operations | 6-Month FTC | £90k pro rata

I'm working on a 6-month FTC opportunity for an experienced Delivery Director - Strategic Operations to join a leading global media and marketing organisation.

This is a high-profile role working closely with senior leadership to turn business strategy into action. You'll take the lead on a portfolio of business-critical initiatives, bringing clarity, structure and momentum to complex projects spanning people, finance, technology, data and operations.

They're looking for someone who can see the bigger picture, get into the detail when needed, challenge senior stakeholders and - most importantly - get things moving.

This isn't a role for someone who simply manages project plans. It's for someone who makes things happen.

You'll be an experienced delivery, programme or portfolio leader who is comfortable operating at Director level and navigating a complex, fast-moving organisation.

You'll bring:

• A strong track record of delivering complex, cross-functional programmes or portfolios.

• The ability to move confidently between the strategic big picture and the practical detail required to get things delivered.

• Experience establishing portfolio governance, delivery frameworks and reporting across multiple business areas.

• The confidence to influence senior stakeholders, challenge constructively and drive accountability without relying on direct line management.

• Strong commercial and operational thinking, with an instinct for identifying what matters most and where intervention is needed.

• A pragmatic, hands-on approach to problem-solving, with the ability to get up to speed quickly and make an impact.

• A solid grounding in programme and project delivery methods, whether Agile, Waterfall or hybrid, alongside practical tools such as RAID, RACI, business cases, milestone planning and benefits realisation.

• Excellent communication skills, particularly when presenting complex information and recommendations to C-suite and senior leadership audiences.

Experience within media, marketing, advertising, agency or a similarly complex, fast-paced environment would be advantageous.

PMP, APM, PMI or an equivalent qualification would be a bonus.

• Contract: 6-month fixed-term contract

• Salary: £90,000 per annum, pro rata
