The role

Opportunity open to existing Grade 9 / Grade 10 academics within the Faculty of Arts, Humanities and Cultures at the University of Leeds only.

The Faculty has a strong commitment to Equity, Diversity and Inclusion (EDI) as an integral part of its academic mission, culture and ways of working. The Faculty Director of Equity, Diversity and Inclusive Excellence provides senior academic leadership for this agenda across the Faculty and its nine Schools, working closely with the Faculty's Executive Team, Heads of School, School EDI Leads, the Faculty EDI Officer and relevant University colleagues.

The Director is responsible for driving the strategic direction, promoting a coherent Faculty-wide approach and ensuring that EDI priorities are evidence-led, proportionate and aligned with Faculty and University strategy, including the One Leeds agenda. The Director provides functional leadership to the EDI Leads within each of the Faculty's Schools, while Heads of School retain formal line-management responsibility for those roles.

A major responsibility of the Director is the academic and strategic leadership of the Faculty's Athena Swan programme. The immediate priority is to lead the Faculty's Athena Swan Silver application, due for submission in July 2027.
