Arts and Humanities (A&H) is a collaborative, innovative and collegial Faculty, committed to the holistic support, growth and development of its staff and students. EDI and Wellbeing are firmly embedded into our strategic vision, as is our commitment to the highest quality education and student experience. The Faculty is made up of c. 5,600 students and 815 staff who work across both UCL campuses in Bloomsbury and the Olympic Park, Stratford. Many of our degree courses are highly competitive with demanding entry tariffs. With significant expertise in languages and area studies, study abroad and the international student experience are important elements of our education profile.
The Faculty Education Team
This is an exciting opportunity to join A&H as one of two Heads of Education and Student Experience at a pivotal point in the development of our Education and Student Experience service. Following completion of the EASE restructure, we are establishing new standardised processes and ways of working, while embedding a culture of continuous improvement across our teams
The Faculty Education Team is responsible for delivering both our business-as-usual education and student experience service to support our course delivery as required by the relevant policies and practices - and alongside that work, our cross-faculty strategic activity such as Quality Assurance, complex student casework and regulatory compliance. The two Heads will work in close partnership to deliver the Faculty's strategic ambitions for education and student experience. While sharing responsibility for service leadership and improvement, each post-holder will lead a distinct portfolio of strategic activity.
Both HESE roles will report to the Director of Education and Student Experience and line-manage a roughly balanced team of grade 8 Education Managers.
About the role
As a key member of our Education and Student Experience (EASE) Team, you will be dedicated to supporting all who work/study in our subject areas. You will lead on supporting the successful operation of all our education courses by ensuring an effective service infrastructure is both in place and compliant with academic policy and regulations, policy, and practice. You will oversee all areas relating to student support and experience; manage a team of EASE professionals and be an active participant in cross-UCL committees and networks to further the aims of A&H. This will all be combined with commitment to the highest possible standards of service to students and colleagues.
