At UCL, our Global Engagement team helps put UCL's knowledge to work in the world, supporting our faculties to deliver meaningful impact through international partnerships and collaboration.
Working within the Office of the Vice-Provost (Research, Innovation and Global Engagement), the team brings together expertise in international research and education, global partnership development, geopolitical analysis, strategic planning and communications.
We work closely with academics, professional services colleagues and external partners to strengthen UCL's international relationships and support activities that deliver positive change across the world.
We are seeking a Global Engagement Manager to join our Global Engagement team at UCL, based in Bloomsbury, London.
This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in supporting UCL's international partnerships, projects and strategic initiatives. Working closely with Senior Global Engagement Managers and Strategic Global Initiatives Managers, the postholder will coordinate partnership activities, manage projects and develop relationships with external organisations across a range of international regions.
Initially, the postholder will primarily support two regional portfolios: Americas & Australasia, and Japan, South Korea & Singapore. There will also be opportunities to contribute to projects and initiatives beyond these regions, supporting the team's wider international engagement activities.
The role involves supporting the development and implementation of international partnerships, coordinating high-profile meetings, visits and delegations, and producing research, briefings and reports to inform strategic engagement. Responsibilities also include maintaining partnership records, supporting the development of agreements and providing practical advice to colleagues across UCL on international engagement opportunities.
The successful candidate will work with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders, helping ensure that UCL's global partnerships and initiatives are delivered effectively and contribute to the university's wider strategic ambitions.
We are looking for an organised, proactive and collaborative individual with experience of developing and implementing international partnerships, ideally within higher education, research, innovation, government or policy environments.
Strong relationship-building and communication skills are essential, alongside experience of independently supporting multiple projects and working effectively with a range of internal and external stakeholders.
The successful candidate will have excellent written communication and analytical skills, with the ability to undertake research, interpret complex information and contribute to strategic reports, proposals and planning documents.
An ability to manage competing priorities, adapt to changing circumstances and work collaboratively within a high-performing team will be important.
An understanding of internationalisation within higher education, experience of preparing complex documents or agreements, and additional language skills would be advantageous.
A good undergraduate degree or equivalent professional experience is required, alongside a willingness to travel and occasionally work outside standard hours where necessary.
As London's Global University, we know diversity fosters creativity and innovation, and we want our community to represent the diversity of the world's talent. We are committed to equality of opportunity, to being fair and inclusive, and to being a place where we all belong.
We therefore particularly encourage applications from candidates who are likely to be underrepresented in UCL's workforce.
These include people from Black, Asian and ethnic minority backgrounds; disabled people; LGBTQI+ people; and for our Grade 9 and 10 roles, women.
