The role

What you'll be doing

Reporting to the Head of Engagement, you'll lead the Events workstream within the Business Banking Engagement team. You'll set and lead the Business Banking events and experiences strategy across colleague and customer audiences, developing a coordinated programme of events aligned with Business Banking priorities, customer needs and significant strategic moments. The role includes leading the planning and delivery of high-profile internal events, including colleague conferences, leadership events, all-colleague experiences and major business milestones, while also leading the strategic development of customer events, including conferences, roundtables, sector activity, relationship events and advocacy opportunities. You'll ensure every event has clear objectives, a defined audience and measurable outcomes, bringing the Business Banking strategy to life through compelling event narratives, content and experiences. Working closely with leaders and subject matter experts, you'll shape agendas, key messages and speaker contributions, while establishing standards for event design, delivery, accessibility, brand experience and attendee care. You'll create a single view of events across Business Banking, identifying gaps, overlaps and opportunities, and lead complex programmes involving multiple stakeholders, suppliers, agencies, locations and delivery partners. The role also involves overseeing budgets, procurement, supplier relationships, contracts and commercial decisions, as well as identifying and managing operational, reputational, financial and customer risks. You'll build strong relationships with relationship teams, Marketing, Brand, Communications, Corporate Affairs and external partners, ensuring customer events support advocacy, relationship-building and relevant commercial or strategic outcomes. Using attendee feedback, insight and performance data, you'll evaluate impact and improve future activity, while leading and developing the Events team, setting clear priorities and creating a positive, collaborative delivery culture. You'll remain calm and decisive when plans change or issues arise and champion inclusive, accessible and sustainable event practices.

About you

  • Significant experience leading complex internal, corporate, customer or experiential events, including the successful delivery of high-profile events involving senior leaders, customers and external audiences.

  • An experienced people leader who can motivate teams, build confidence and maintain high standards.

  • A strong strategic mindset, with experience developing event strategies, programmes and delivery roadmaps that support business, customer and cultural outcomes.

  • Experience managing significant budgets, suppliers, agencies, venues and production partners, with a strong understanding of event governance, accessibility, health and safety, customer care and reputational risk.

  • Excellent programme management, organisational and prioritisation skills, with the ability to oversee multiple events and competing priorities simultaneously.

  • Confidence influencing senior stakeholders, building trusted relationships across teams and external partners, and constructively challenging activity that lacks a clear objective or audience need.

  • Experience in agenda development, speaker management, attendee experience and event communications, using insight and feedback to measure success and drive continuous improvement.

Our customer first behaviours put customers and members at the heart of how we work together. They are the set of behaviours that every colleague needs to display, in every role:

  • Feel what customers feel - We step into our customers' shoes, using their feedback and insights to empathise with them and to understand their needs, so that every decision we make starts and finishes with our customers in mind

  • Say it straight - We are brave in speaking out and saying what we think - we're honest and direct with good intent, openly sharing diverse perspectives to reach the best conclusions and using language everyone can understand

  • Push for better - We don't settle for mediocrity, we challenge the status quo, taking responsibility for continuous improvement and personal development

  • Get it done - We prioritise what will have the greatest impact, we are decisive, and we take accountability for delivering brilliant customer outcomes

You can strengthen your application by showing how our customer first behaviours resonate with you, and where you may have already demonstrated these.
