The role

Ready to take the next step in your physiotherapy career within a forward-thinking rehabilitation service?

An opportunity has arisen for a Senior Physiotherapist to join our team at City Community Hospital, Oxford.

We are looking for a proactive Physiotherapist to support rehabilitation across our inpatient wards, helping older adults maximise their independence and achieve the best possible outcomes.

You will have experience in the assessment and treatment of older people, including rehabilitation, falls prevention, frailty and long-term conditions.

You will manage a varied caseload, undertake comprehensive assessments and develop evidence-based treatment plans tailored to individual patient needs.

Work alongside nursing, medical and therapy colleagues to deliver person-centred care, promote safe discharge and help prevent unnecessary hospital admissions. You will also support the supervision and development of junior physiotherapists, rehabilitation assistants and students.

Our Community Hospitals provide a supportive therapy environment, with access to experienced allied health professional leadership, peer support and development opportunities.

As part of Oxford Health NHS Foundation Trust and the NHS Ageing Well programme, you will contribute to innovative rehabilitation services that support patients to recover well, remain independent for longer and achieve their goals. Join us and make a meaningful difference to the lives of patients and their families every day.

What you'll do

  • Deliver high-quality, person-centred rehabilitation, assessment and treatment to support recovery, independence and safe discharge.
  • Manage a complex caseload autonomously, using clinical reasoning and evidence-based practice to develop, implement and review treatment programmes.
  • Work collaboratively within multidisciplinary, community and acute teams to coordinate care, optimise outcomes and ensure seamless patient pathways.
  • Develop and implement effective discharge plans, liaising with patients, carers and external agencies to support ongoing care needs.
  • Provide clinical guidance, support and education to colleagues, students, patients and carers, promoting best practice across the service.
  • Contribute to service improvement, audit, quality initiatives and the development of local protocols to enhance patient care and service performance.
  • Maintain effective risk management, safeguarding, governance and documentation standards to ensure safe, compliant and compassionate care delivery.

Applicants must have a full valid driving licence and have access to a vehicle for work. Adjustments can be considered in line with the Equality Act 2010 where required.

Successful applicants need to be able to travel independently between sites and to patients own homes to complete assessments and may be required to work across extended hours and seven days in order to meet the needs of our patients.

We hope that the advert has given you a clear understanding of the skills we are seeking and the opportunity at hand.
