The role

What you'll be doing

As a Marketing Tech Strategy Manager, you'll lead the development and evolution of our marketing technology strategy, ensuring our capabilities, platforms and operating model support both current business priorities and future growth ambitions.

You'll work closely with teams across Marketing, Digital, Data and Technology to understand business needs, identify opportunities for improvement and shape the roadmap for our marketing technology estate. By balancing strategic thinking with practical delivery, you'll help ensure investments in technology drive measurable value for customers and the business.

A key part of the role will be leading transformation and change initiatives, supporting the introduction of new capabilities and ensuring successful adoption across the organisation. You'll collaborate with a wide range of stakeholders to define requirements, manage dependencies and help teams embrace new ways of working.

You'll provide governance and oversight across marketing technology initiatives, helping to identify and manage risks, establish effective controls and ensure delivery remains aligned to strategic objectives. You'll also use data and performance measures to assess outcomes, evaluate return on investment and inform future priorities.

As a subject matter expert, you'll build strong relationships across the business, influencing decision-making and providing guidance on marketing technology trends, capabilities and best practices. Through collaboration, strategic planning and continuous improvement, you'll help create a marketing technology ecosystem that enables exceptional customer experiences and supports Nationwide's long-term ambitions.

About you

For this role, you will need:

  • Significant experience developing and delivering complex marketing communications technology or capability strategies and roadmaps, with a proven ability to align long-term investment and transformation priorities to business objectives

  • Strong storytelling, communication and influencing skills, with experience translating complex information into compelling narratives that engage stakeholders and drive decision-making

  • Proven ability to use data, insight and performance measures to shape strategic direction, evaluate outcomes and demonstrate business value and return on investment

  • Experience leading business or marketing communications technology transformation programmes, including planning, prioritisation, implementation and delivery of multiple interdependent initiatives

  • Experience establishing and applying governance, risk and control frameworks for change delivery, ensuring transformation is delivered in a compliant, controlled and scalable manner

  • A track record of using AI tools, technologies or capabilities within a Marketing Technology environment to drive defined business or customer outcomes.

Our customer first behaviours put customers and members at the heart of how we work together. They are the set of behaviours that every colleague needs to display, in every role:

  • Feel what customers feel - We step into our customers' shoes, using their feedback and insights to empathise with them and to understand their needs, so that every decision we make starts and finishes with our customers in mind

  • Say it straight - We are brave in speaking out and saying what we think - we're honest and direct with good intent, openly sharing diverse perspectives to reach the best conclusions and using language everyone can understand

  • Push for better - We don't settle for mediocrity, we challenge the status quo, taking responsibility for continuous improvement and personal development

  • Get it done - We prioritise what will have the greatest impact, we are decisive, and we take accountability for delivering brilliant customer outcomes

You can strengthen your application by showing how our customer first behaviours resonate with you, and where you may have already demonstrated these.
