The role
CNC Machinist
Program, set and run advanced CNC machines cutting high-precision parts for aerospace, defense, energy and robotics customers.
The parts you cut go into aircraft, defense systems, energy infrastructure and robots. This is a hands-on machining role across our factory network in the UK, US, Germany or France, where you own your work from the program to the finished part rather than handing it down a line.
What you'll own
Your machines and everything that comes off them. You will program, simulate and optimize toolpaths in 3-axis, 5-axis and mill-turn where it applies, prove out first articles to aerospace and defense standards, and take cycle time and utilization personally. Fixturing strategy, tooling and cutting parameters for aluminum, steels, titanium and Inconel are yours to choose. First-time-right is the standard, not the aspiration, and new part introductions come to you as drawings and leave as repeatable production with DFM feedback attached. As the network grows, the programming approach you standardize here gets used at other sites.
What you'll bring
Strong CAM programming in Fusion, Hypermill, Mastercam or equivalent, and a demonstrable record of holding ±0.01 mm and below. You should have set and run high-end machines in production - Hermle, DMG Mori, Mazak or similar - and understand feeds, speeds, tooling strategy and work-holding well enough to argue about them. Complex drawings and GD&T should need no translation. The factory is still being shaped, so you will need to be comfortable improving the setup rather than waiting for it. Experience in aerospace, defense or another high-specification sector is preferred. Useful but not essential: 5-axis simultaneous machining, probing, automation or pallet systems, AS9100 or ISO 9001, and an interest in robotics and data-driven manufacturing.
