The role

Marine Safety and Compliance Manager

The Marine Safety and Compliance Manager makes sure our passenger vessels, piers and people operate safely and within the law. You will maintain and continually improve our Safety Management System (SMS) under the MCA Domestic Safety Management (DSM) Code, lead audits and incident investigations, and be our day-to-day link with the MCA, PLA and other authorities.

You will also act as Deputy Designated Person (DDP). When the Head of Safety and Compliance is unavailable, you will carry the full DP role: monitoring the safe operation of the fleet and providing the link between vessel and shore, with direct access to the most senior level of management.

Be our day-to-day link with the MCA, PLA and MAIB

Plan MCA surveys and audits with Engineering, and keep every vessel's certification in date

Lead internal audits, incident investigations and emergency drills

Champion an open, just reporting culture across crew and shore teams

Act as London super user for our Helm compliance software

Ensure drills and exercises completed as planned, with lessons learned acted on

Act as DDP, covering DP duties during the absence, leave or unavailability of the DP
