We are seeking a Research Excellence Framework (REF) SPRE Manager to join our Evaluation and Reporting team. This is a fixed-term position until the end of February 2029, supporting the preparation and delivery of UCL's submission to REF 2029.
The role will focus on coordinating the preparation of UCL's Institutional SPRE Statement and supporting the development of Unit-level statements across the university. This includes gathering, validating and analysing evidence, coordinating contributions from academic and professional services colleagues, and supporting the drafting, editing and review of submission materials.
Working closely with the REF team, faculty representatives, academic departments and professional services, you will help develop processes and guidance to support consistent, effective submissions. You will also coordinate workshops, training and stakeholder engagement activities, monitor progress against key milestones and provide reports and updates to senior colleagues and REF governance groups.

UCL is a world-leading research-intensive university, consistently ranked among the best universities globally. Our Research, Innovation and Global Engagement (RIGE) department provides strategic leadership and professional support for UCL's research, innovation and global engagement activities, helping to advance research excellence and maximise its impact on society.
Within RIGE, the Evaluation and Reporting team supports UCL's research strategy through analysis, reporting and insight into research performance. The team also coordinates UCL's submissions to national research assessment exercises, including the Research Excellence Framework (REF).
REF 2029 introduces Strategy, People and Research Environment (SPRE) as a new assessment element, representing 20% of the overall quality profile. This is a significant institutional priority, and the successful candidate will play an important role in supporting UCL's preparations and ensuring the quality of its submission.
