As well as the exciting opportunities this role presents we also offer some great benefits some of which are below:
UCL is one of the world's leading universities, with a long-standing commitment to ensuring that excellence in research goes hand in hand with making a positive contribution to society.
The Office of the Vice-Provost (Research, Innovation and Global Engagement) brings together functions, services and resources that support UCL's research and engagement ambitions, working across institutional boundaries to enable responsible impact locally, nationally and internationally.
UCL Public Policy is UCL's institutional programme for strengthening engagement between researchers and policymakers and increasing the contribution of UCL's academic expertise to public policy. The team supports capacity building across UCL, develops relationships with policymakers, coordinates knowledge exchange and policy engagement activity, and helps communicate and disseminate UCL research to policy audiences.
We are seeking a Policy Fellowship Coordinator to join UCL Public Policy and lead the delivery of our Policy Fellowships Programme. This is a maternity cover opportunity, funded through Research England's Policy Support Fund, with the maternity cover expected to run until 7 December 2027.
Ideally, we are looking for someone who can start asap, allowing for a handover and shadowing period during December /January with the current postholder. Part-time, full-time and job-share arrangements will be considered.
The role will oversee the full lifecycle of UCL Public Policy's fellowship schemes, including Researchers in Residence, the London Local Authority Policy Fellowship, Policy Residency and CSAP affiliate schemes. You will coordinate programme delivery and administration, build relationships with fellows, policymakers and partners, and ensure a high-quality experience for those participating in the programmes.
You will also plan and deliver workshops, training and engagement activities that bring researchers and policymakers together, while supporting wider capability building in policy engagement across UCL. Alongside programme delivery, you will coordinate monitoring, evaluation and reporting, maintain accurate programme data and help communicate the reach and impact of the programme.
You will bring experience of working in UK public policy or a related engagement environment, alongside strong programme management and delivery skills. You will be comfortable managing multiple activities in a complex environment and working across areas such as funding, data, contracts and programme evaluation.
Strong relationship-building skills will be essential, with experience of engaging researchers, policymakers and senior external stakeholders and developing partnerships that support successful programme delivery. You will also be confident designing and delivering workshops, meetings, training or other capability-building activities.
You will be highly organised and able to manage competing priorities, relationships and complex queries at pace. Excellent written and verbal communication skills are important, including the ability to distil complex information and produce clear, engaging briefings and reports for different audiences.
A proactive and collaborative approach will be key, alongside the ability to work independently, develop ideas and adapt to changing priorities. Experience of designing or scaling policy fellowship or other knowledge exchange programmes, or experience within higher education, would be particularly valuable.
As London's Global University, we know diversity fosters creativity and innovation, and we want our community to represent the diversity of the world's talent. We are committed to equality of opportunity, to being fair and inclusive, and to being a place where we all belong.
We therefore particularly encourage applications from candidates who are likely to be underrepresented in UCL's workforce.
These include people from Black, Asian and ethnic minority backgrounds; disabled people; LGBTQI+ people; and for our Grade 9 and 10 roles, women.
