The role

We are recruiting for a Public Health Programme Manager - Healthy Families to join our Healthy Children and Families team within the Public Health Division.

Introduction

The first 1,001 days are one of the most important periods in a person's life, laying the foundations for lifelong health and wellbeing. We are seeking an experienced and driven Public Health Programme Manager to champion work that improves perinatal mental health and supports strong parent-infant relationships, delivering meaningful outcomes for children, families and communities.

About us: At Tower Hamlets, we work in partnership with our communities to create opportunities for healthier lives. Join a welcoming and forward-thinking children's public health team that is deeply committed to health equity and social justice. Together, we deliver high-quality, evidence-based programmes that make a tangible difference, supported by a culture that combines high standards with compassion and mutual support.

The postholder will be leading a portfolio of work to deliver the Family Hubs Healthy Babies Perinatal Mental Health and Parent-Infant Relationship workstream under the Best Start in Life programme. This will include:

  • Strategic leadership and programme management: Leading the development, implementation and continuous improvement of perinatal mental health and parent-infant relationship programmes in line with local priorities and evidence.
  • Commissioning and service development: Commissioning, managing and evaluating services and pathways to ensure high-quality, accessible and effective support for families.
  • Partnership working and system leadership: Building and maintaining strong relationships across health, local authority, voluntary and community sector partners to drive integrated, system-wide approaches.
  • Population health intelligence and evaluation: Using data, evidence, insight and evaluation to inform decision-making, monitor outcomes and demonstrate programme impact.
  • Stakeholder engagement and improving health equity: Leading engagement, communications and co-production activities to ensure services are responsive to community needs and contribute to improving health equity.
  • Workforce development and capacity building: Supporting learning, supervision and professional development across the system to strengthen capability and improve outcomes for families.
