Role overview
We are recruiting for a Resource Advisor to join our Resource Management Practice.
In collaboration with partners and the wider Resource Management team, the Resource Advisor will play a key role in supporting the day-to-day management of work allocation, helping to ensure lawyers are deployed efficiently and effectively across our dedicated practice areas. The focus will be on optimising utilisation while balancing experience, capacity, development goals, individual preferences and client requirements.
The role will have primary responsibility for supporting our Competition practice, with opportunities to work across other practice areas on wider resourcing priorities and initiatives. While each group has its own distinct practice area and client demands, their resourcing models operate in a similar way, offering a varied and well-rounded resource management experience.
Key responsibilities
The key responsibilities of this role are set out below and there may be others which are not listed. You may be required on occasion to work outside our normal working hours of 9:30am to 5:30pm.
- Take ownership of the day-to-day allocation of work across the Competition practice, ensuring matters are resourced effectively, taking into account skills, capacity, experience, development objectives and business priorities.
- Anticipate and manage potential resource allocation conflicts, balancing competing priorities and exercising sound judgement to reach practical solutions, drawing on the wider Resource Management team where appropriate.
- Develop trusted relationships with partners and associates, building a strong understanding of work they do, practice priorities and individual resourcing requirements.
- Produce clear and regular reporting on utilisation and projected capacity, providing analysis and insights to highlight trends and any risks. Work closely with the Resource Manager to recommend and implement appropriate mitigation strategies.
- Review workflows and processes to identify opportunities to optimise operations, recommending improvements to the Resource Manager to enhance efficiency and effectiveness.
- Provide flexible resourcing support across other practice groups, including during periods of absence, increased demand or wider operational need.
- Work closely with HR Partners and the HR Manager to support lawyers' career and development objectives, ensuring resourcing decisions provide appropriate opportunities for experience, progression and development.
