Role overview
We are seeking a technically adept Application Engineer to join our Business Systems team in the Technology department on a 12-month fixed term contract. You will be part of a cross-functional team of engineers and will focus specifically on delivering the firm's migration of iManage Work, iManage Security Policy Manager (SPM) and iManage Records Manager (IRM) from on-premises to iManage's SaaS (iManage Cloud) platform.
Working closely with business users, technology colleagues and iManage, the Application Engineer will help plan, configure, test and deliver the migration, ensuring that the SaaS services are reliable, secure and aligned to business needs, and that disruption to users is minimised. This is an excellent opportunity to play a key role in a business-critical cloud transformation programme.
You will act as a technical Subject Matter Expert for the migration workstream, working alongside the firm's DMS Technical Product Owner and project team, and supporting the handover of the migrated SaaS services into business-as-usual support at the end of the contract.
Key responsibilities
Migration Planning and Delivery
- Contribute to the technical planning, design and delivery of the migration of iManage Work, SPM and IRM from on-premises to SaaS, in line with the agreed project plan, milestones and Technology roadmap.
- Assess the current on-premises configuration, customisations, security policies, records/retention rules and integrations, and define how each will be migrated, re-engineered or retired in the SaaS environment.
- Maintain and prioritise the migration backlog, including configuration tasks, remediation activities, testing and defect resolution.
- Plan and support data migration, validation and reconciliation activities, test cycles (including user acceptance testing), cutover and post-go-live hypercare.
Design and Development
- Design, configure, test and document the iManage Work, SPM and IRM SaaS environments.
- Analyse existing SQL objects, including stored procedures, views and data schemas, that depend on the on-premises iManage databases, and identify and implement SaaS-compatible alternatives.
- Re-engineer, build and test integrations between iManage and other firm applications using iManage APIs, Azure Integration Services and REST APIs.
- Collaborate with internal teams to evaluate and approve technical design decisions, architectural changes and security implications.
- Participate in agile ceremonies such as sprint planning, backlog refinement and retrospectives.
Application Support and Handover
- Support the on-premises iManage Work, SPM and IRM environments as required during the migration period to maintain service continuity.
- Produce and maintain documentation, runbooks and knowledge articles for the SaaS services, and provide knowledge transfer to the Business Systems and support teams to ensure a smooth handover into business-as-usual support.
Stakeholder and Vendor Engagement
- Act as a key technical liaison between internal users, the project team, support teams and iManage for the migration.
- Work closely with iManage and any implementation partners, coordinating support cases and migration activities and tracking delivery against agreed timelines.
Cybersecurity and Risk
- Ensure the SaaS configuration of iManage Work, SPM and IRM, the data migrated to it and its integrations comply with the firm's security policies, ethical walls, records retention requirements and internal and external security standards.
- Identify, log and manage risks, issues and vulnerabilities relating to the migration, and proactively support their mitigation.
Candidate profile
Candidates for this position must have:
Essential
- Expert knowledge of iManage Work, Security Policy Manager and Records Manager configuration, administration and support.
- Proven experience of delivering on-premises to SaaS migrations of business-critical applications, ideally iManage Work and SPM to iManage Cloud.
- Strong SQL skills with an excellent knowledge of SQL objects, including stored procedures, views and data schemas.
- Experience with coding using iManage REST APIs.
- Experience of data migration, validation, testing and cutover planning.
- Strong troubleshooting skills and understanding of system integrations, data flows and application architecture.
- Excellent stakeholder engagement, communication, training and documentation skills, including the ability to communicate well with both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Enjoy working as part of a close-knit team.
Desirable
- Experience of configuring and supporting Litera Milan/CAM, Microsoft SharePoint, HighQ or other applications that integrate with iManage.
- Experience of working on project-based delivery and handing over solutions into business-as-usual support.
- Experience in the legal sector or a similar highly regulated environment.
- Familiarity with legal sector compliance and IT security standards (e.g. GDPR, ISO 27001, Cyber Essentials Plus).
- Exposure to agile or iterative delivery methodologies and velocity coding.
