Skills
The role
The Royal Horticultural Society (RHS), the UK's leading gardening charity, is looking for Casual Glow Stewards to join the team at RHS Garden Rosemoor for our 2026 winter season.
RHS Glow transforms the garden after dark with spectacular illuminations, creating a magical festive experience for thousands of visitors.
Our Glow Stewards are a vital part of making the event welcoming, enjoyable and safe. You'll be based out in the garden along the illuminated route, helping visitors find their way, answering questions, managing visitor flow and working with the wider Glow team to make sure the event runs smoothly.
What you'll be doing
As a Casual Glow Steward, you will:
- Give visitors a warm and friendly welcome and help them enjoy their evening at RHS Glow.
- Be visible and approachable along the Glow route, answering questions and providing directions and information.
- Monitor visitor flow and help maintain an even and comfortable distribution of visitors around the route.
- Help visitors navigate different areas of the garden safely, including busy points and route transitions.
- Support the Lead Steward and wider operational team in the smooth running of each evening.
- Follow RHS health and safety procedures and your Glow training at all times.
- Respond appropriately to incidents and changing circumstances, including following procedures for situations such as power failures or emergency evacuations.
- Communicate clearly with colleagues and promptly report any visitor, safety or operational concerns.
About you
We're looking for people who are:
- Friendly, calm and confident when dealing with the public.
- Enthusiastic about creating a great visitor experience.
- Reliable and comfortable working as part of a team.
- Able to communicate clearly and follow instructions.
- Happy to work outdoors after dark in a range of winter weather conditions.
- Able to be on their feet and outdoors for the majority of a shift.
- Available for regular evening shifts, including weekends and some peak dates during the Christmas period.
Previous stewarding, events or customer-service experience is welcome, but isn't essential. Training and support will be provided.
Safeguarding and Inclusion
The RHS is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children, young people and adults at risk and expects all personnel to share in this commitment. We are an inclusive employer and welcome applicants from all backgrounds.
We may review applications as soon as we receive them, so if you are interested, please apply straight away. The vacancy may close once we have appointed the required number of candidates.
If you require additional support with your application, please contact sharonellis@rhs.org.uk, including the job title or job reference number in your email.
