About you

Are you an experienced Project Manager, Project Engineer or delivery professional looking for your next challenge?

You may already have experience delivering projects in the water sector, or perhaps you've built your career elsewhere in an engineering, process or infrastructure industry such as Oil & Gas, Petrochemicals, Construction, Utilities or Critical Infrastructure.

Whether your experience has been gained within the water sector or elsewhere, we're interested in the skills and experience you can bring. We value strong transferable skills in project management, alongside different perspectives, new ideas and best practice from across industry.

You'll be proactive and organised, with the ability to build credibility with stakeholders at all levels. Your experience will have been gained in a project management, project engineering or other project delivery role. What's important is your ability to apply your project management skills to the successful delivery of our complex capital projects, alongside a desire to continue developing your project management capability.

We're committed to ensuring "Everyone Home Safe Everyday", so a strong awareness of health and safety is essential. You'll understand the importance of achieving safety, quality and environmental outcomes through compliance with company standards, legislation and Construction (Design and Management) regulations.

Experience of contract management, procurement and NEC contracts would be valuable, but we're also interested in people who have the capability and drive to develop in these areas. We're committed to developing our colleagues and we're seeking a commitment to achieving or holding an industry-recognized project management qualification.

About the role

As Project Manager, you'll have real ownership of capital investment projects ranging from £500k to £20m across our water assets. From developing the delivery plan through to completion and handover, you'll be accountable for making sure your projects are delivered safely, efficiently, on time and within budget.

You'll develop and manage project schedules, establish clear milestones and actively manage dependencies, risks and changes. When challenges arise, you'll be expected to make decisions, solve problems and work collaboratively with your project team and delivery partners to maintain momentum and deliver at pace.

You'll have autonomy over your project budget, with responsibility for forecasting and tracking expenditure and maintaining a clear view of your project's financial position. You'll identify emerging financial pressures and risks early and seek the necessary approvals where budgets need to change.

Working closely with Project Sponsors, you'll maintain a clear understanding of why we're making the investment and ensure the intended outcomes and benefits remain at the heart of project decisions. You'll work collaboratively with engineering, operations, commercial teams, contractors and suppliers to achieve the best overall outcome and deliver value for money.

You'll play a key role in developing the procurement and contracting strategy for your projects, working with our commercial and procurement teams to determine the most appropriate approach and contract arrangements. Throughout delivery, you'll manage supplier performance and commercial risks to support efficient delivery and achieve value for money.

This isn't a desk-based project management role. You'll be visible on site, understanding progress, engaging with those delivering the work and ensuring safety, quality and environmental requirements remain central to delivery.
