At Northumbrian Water, our customers are at the heart of everything we do. Every day, we provide essential water and wastewater services to millions of people, and we are committed to delivering reliable, affordable and sustainable services while supporting our communities and protecting the environment. By focusing on the outcomes that matter most to our customers, we are also working towards our ambition to be the National Leader in sustainable water and wastewater services.
We are building a dedicated team to create our PR29 business plan, which will set out what we will deliver for customers and the environment, and the investment needed to achieve it, between 2030 and 2035. We are recruiting a number of key roles to join this team, offering an exciting opportunity to work with colleagues across Northumbrian Water, influence important decisions and help develop an ambitious and compelling plan that delivers lasting value for our customers and communities.
About the role
We have a new opportunity for an Asset Health Advisor, who will enhance our understanding of asset risk management across our entire asset base. This will support the wider business in the operation, maintenance, and enhancement of our assets to improve the delivery of our customer experience.
This role will involve program and project management, data collection and analyses and presentation of asset information, to support our journey to achieve national leader. The role should provide technical expertise to understand asset health in terms of criticality, wellness, fitness and life expectancy through advanced techniques that combine analysis and operational knowledge as well as employing extensive new investigations into the condition and importance of our infrastructure and non-infrastructure assets.
You will work closely with operational and performance teams to identify and quantify risk and benefits to facilitate the service planning process in balancing totex costs, risk and performance. This is a key role in looking for cross service best practice and driving consistency in application of this best practice.
You will work with stakeholders to deliver an annual programme of asset health inspections as defined by the asset health strategy that allow us to understand the health of assets within our 28 asset classes.
You will manage the coordination of contractors engaged to carry out survey work on our asset base to ensure delivery to appropriate cost, quality and time constraints in a safe and efficient manner.
About you
If you have a broad and deep knowledge of asset criticality, and can use this to identify and prioritise focus across our asset base and to communicate these results using a collection of "Information Products" to the business, we would love to hear from you!
You will have an understanding of the complex needs of the asset management business, and a willingness to learn and apply engineering understanding at a practical level.
You have an enthusiastic approach to collaboration and an ability to network effectively with internal colleagues and members of external organisations. You have a passion to grab hold of issues and see them through to solution, and the drive to deliver outcomes for our stakeholders, regulators and customers.
We will be hosting an Open Evening session to learn more about PR29 roles at our Northumbria House office in Pity Me, Durham on Tuesday 10th November 2026. Please register your interest at: recruitment@nwl.co.uk
Please note this role will require a DBS to be completed prior to employment.
