The role

Job title and organisation: Domestic Abuse Practitioner (Children and Young People) Bradford RESET - The Bridge Project
Salary: £17,254 per annum (Actual)
Hours: 22.5 per week
Contract: Fixed Term to 15 September 2028
Location: Salem Street, Bradford
Closing Date and Time: Friday 20 November 2026 at 9am

We're proud of the work we do, and we're now looking for a Domestic Abuse Practitioner (Children and Young People). This new post has been made possible through two years' grant funding from the Masonic Charitable Foundation and is embedded within the Bradford RESET team. The role is for 22.5 hours per week over 3 days, Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday.

Bradford RESET (Recognise, Engage, Support Everyone to Transform) is a district-wide, trauma-informed service commissioned by Bradford Council and led by The Bridge Project. It provides a whole-system, multi-agency response to domestic abuse, working with both people who cause harm and those affected by it.

The model is built around a whole-family approach, ensuring that alongside behaviour change work with those causing harm, parallel support, safety planning and recovery support is provided to victims, partners and family members through dedicated Family Workers and specialist services.

Within RESET, Family Workers play a key role in identifying and supporting victim-survivors and their families. Through this work, they develop a clear understanding of risk, need and the lived experience of children and young people affected by domestic abuse.

This post extends Bradford RESET's whole-system approach by providing targeted, developmentally appropriate support for adolescents affected by domestic abuse, ensuring their voices, needs and experiences are central to how support is designed and delivered.

What you'll do

We are looking for a highly skilled, engaging and innovative practitioner with strong experience of working with children and young people. You will have exceptional relationship-building and engagement skills, with the ability to connect with young people in a way that is authentic, inspiring and builds trust over time. You will be confident working in a needs-led and flexible way, while operating safely within a structured, safeguarding-led framework.

The role requires someone who works positively as part of a team and alongside multi-agency professionals, bringing strong communication, collaboration and professional judgement. Above all, you will be passionate about amplifying young people's voices and committed to shaping support that genuinely works for them.

How you'll work

Working Pattern: Monday - Wednesday 9.30am - 5.30pm (includes a 30 minute unpaid break)

Additional Information

We are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and adults and to creating safe, inclusive services. All staff are expected to share this commitment.

In their own words

About the company & team

This role sits within that structure. The Domestic Abuse Practitioner (Children and Young People) will receive referrals directly from Bradford RESET Family Workers, who will identify young people (aged 11-17) within families already engaged in the programme. This ensures that support for children and young people is:

  • informed by a whole-family understanding of risk and safety
  • connected to wider safeguarding and multi-agency planning
  • introduced through trusted relationships already established with the non‑abusing parent or carer
  • grounded in recognition of children and young people as victim-survivors in their own right
