Program, set and run CMMs at Portsmouth, catching non-conformances before they reach the customer.
Inspection is the last place a mistake is cheap. This role programs, sets and runs coordinate measuring machines to verify high-precision components for aerospace, defence, automotive, energy and robotics customers - working alongside machinists and quality managers to make sure what leaves the building conforms.
The measurement, and the confidence behind it. You will program, simulate and optimise CMM routines, and identify non-conformances before they reach a customer rather than after. Fixturing strategy is part of the job: how a part is held determines what you can actually measure. You will maintain high quality standards and first-time-right manufacturing, oversee calibration and maintenance of inspection assets, and work with management to streamline the inspection process as throughput grows.
Strong CMM programming experience, specifically PC-DMIS, and proven ability to inspect tight tolerances - ±0.01 mm and below where the drawing requires it. You need to read and interpret complex engineering drawings and GD&T confidently, and be comfortable in a fast-moving, high-ownership environment. Useful but not essential: experience with statistical process control and automation, knowledge of AS9100 or ISO 9001 quality systems, and an interest in robotics and data-driven manufacturing. Aerospace, defence or other high-specification experience is preferred. The role is on-site at Portsmouth, as part of an established factory and team.
