The role

YouTube's Intelligence and Scaled Insights team analyzes content risks across social media to inform critical decision-making, keeping YouTube safe for billions of users. Resourceful and deeply rooted in subject matter expertise and evidence-based analysis, our work spans high-level intelligence to granular investigations.

Within our Intelligence Desk, we uncover the root causes behind platform risks to help design effective, long-term mitigations. We synthesize information (both quantitative and qualitative) from sources to evaluate the broader impact and trade-offs of every proposed solution.

As part of our team, you will be a key contributor toward building the best intelligence function in the world, enjoying a career lying at the intersection of technology, online safety, and real-world impact.

As a Suicide and Self-Harm (SSH) Intelligence Analyst on YouTube's Intelligence Desk, you will serve as a subject matter expert. Operating at the intersection of investigation and risk modeling, you will evaluate platform vulnerabilities and provide high-stakes, data-informed intelligence that protects vulnerable users and drives a safer ecosystem for billions of global viewers.

What you'll do

  • Identify and investigate emerging trends, threat vectors, and behavioral patterns related to suicide, self-harm, and eating disorders across YouTube and the broader digital ecosystem.
  • Monitor high-risk online phenomena, assessing how self-harm content morphs, evades automated detection, or propagates among vulnerable communities.
  • Craft and communicate evidence-driven assessments and analysis to executive management and cross-functional stakeholders to drive decision-making.
  • Partner closely with various cross-functional teams, including Trust and Safety, Youth, and product teams, to translate complex behavioral and trend insights into actionable intelligence driving safety mitigations and product updates.
