The role

Make a difference where it matters most, helping our customers create homes that work for them.

At Abri, we know that a home is so much more than four walls. It's where life happens, and sometimes customers need support to make changes that help them live safely, comfortably, and independently.

That's where you come in.

We're looking for a Property Alterations Officer to join our friendly team. In this role, you'll be helping customers navigate requests for home alterations, adaptations, and permissions, ensuring they receive clear advice, support, and guidance, every step of the way.

Whether you're speaking to a customer about an adaptation that could improve their daily life, coordinating a surveyor visit, or working with colleagues across the business to find the right solution, you'll play an important role in delivering a great customer experience.

What you'll do

No two days are quite the same. You'll be at the heart of a service that helps customers make changes to their homes with confidence.

You'll:

  • Be the first point of contact for alteration and permission enquiries.
  • Support customers through the application and assessment process, keeping them informed along the way.
  • Work closely with our surveyors, legal teams and housing colleagues to ensure requests are managed smoothly and fairly.
  • Coordinate appointments and inspections, making things as simple as possible for our customers.
  • Review information, identify the right next steps and help ensure decisions are made in line with our policies and safety requirements.
  • Keep our systems and records up to date, helping us provide an efficient and responsive service.

You'll be working from our Yeovil office a minimum of three days per week to connect and collaborate with colleagues and the other two days can be worked from at a place of your choosing whether that's at another of our offices, a cafe or at home.

What we're looking for

We're less concerned about ticking every box and more interested in finding someone who genuinely cares about delivering great service.

You'll be someone who:

  • Enjoys helping people and building positive relationships.
  • Has strong administrative and organisational skills.
  • Can juggle competing priorities and stay calm when things get busy.
  • Has a keen eye for detail and enjoys solving problems.
  • Communicates clearly and confidently with a wide range of customers and colleagues.
  • Takes ownership, uses initiative and looks for ways to make things better.

Experience within housing, property, or a similar environment would be beneficial, but most importantly you'll share our commitment to putting customers first.

Why join Abri?

When you join Abri, you're joining a team that's passionate about creating better futures for our customers and communities.

In return, you'll find a supportive environment where your ideas are valued, your development is encouraged, and the work you do genuinely makes a difference to people's lives.

If you're looking for a role where you can combine customer service, administration, and problem-solving while helping people make their homes work better for them, we'd love to hear from you.

Come and be part of something bigger. Apply today.

We’ll review and interview suitable candidates as they apply. If we receive enough applications, we'll close the advert early so be sure to apply today so you don’t miss out!

In their own words

About the company & team

Abri is a large housing provider who own and manage more than 58,000 homes and various community assets, serving around 113,000 customers across the South of England.

We believe everyone has the right to a good quality safe, warm and sustainable home in a community where they can belong, grow and thrive. What does that look like in real terms?

We’re investing £689m over the next ten years in our existing homes to improve building safety and make them more energy efficient.

  • We’re delivering 10,000 homes by 2030, ensuring affordable housing is built where it’s needed most
  • We’re investing in our communities, to address local issues and create opportunities for everyone

As we grow, we’re re-establishing our strong local presence to provide a really good service. Abri has adopted a regional approach to service delivery, with our operating areas split into three, each with their local governance and leadership. This will ensure our colleagues are more visible, accountable and better connected to our customers and local communities to meet their diverse needs.
