The role

We are currently recruiting for a Catering Assistant to join our team at one of our independent schools in York YO24 4DD.

Wilson Vale is an established, quality-led contract caterer. We work with amazing clients across the UK who place huge value on great food as a key part of their culture and community. We work in office restaurants, independent schools and at conference venues with the same high-end ethos throughout.

We're looking for a friendly and enthusiastic Catering Assistant to join our team, supporting our daily lunch service for up to 300 pupils, including up to 50 nursery children. You'll help ensure lunch is served efficiently and to a high standard, providing a welcoming and friendly service.

The role will also involve keeping the kitchen and dining areas clean, tidy and organised, washing up, and maintaining excellent food hygiene and safety standards throughout the day. How you'll work

This is a part time role working 12 hours per week, 11am to 2pm, between Monday and Friday during term-time.

SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

Have experience working in a similar role and environment
Be highly organised and comfortable working in a high-pressured environment
Ensure you have high standards of food hygiene and follow the rules of health and safety
Keep up standards of hygiene and ensure all areas are clean and tidy
Have excellent customer service and social skills
Be responsible for the preparation and serving of food
Have a can do attitude and will work well as part of a team of 10
Be customer focused
Have basic food knowledge
Be willing to participate and enjoy working part of the team
