The role
The Total Pay & Reward team plays an important role in helping Somerset Council maintain fair, transparent and consistent pay arrangements across the organisation.
We're expanding our team and have several exciting opportunities available for Job Evaluation Analysts on a 6-month fixed-term basis. These roles will support a significant council-wide programme that is helping shape how work is organised, evaluated and understood across the Council. The programme will create a fairer and more consistent approach to job evaluation, supporting clearer career pathways and future workforce planning.
You'll analyse job information, review evidence, apply professional judgement and work closely with managers and colleagues to support informed, evidence-based decisions. If you enjoy reviewing complex information, asking questions and reaching balanced conclusions, this is an excellent opportunity to contribute to a high-profile programme, receive training in the Council's Job Evaluation Scheme and develop your experience in a supportive and collaborative environment.
What you'll do
- Deliver high-quality job evaluations using the Council's agreed Job Evaluation Scheme.
- Analyse role information and supporting evidence to reach fair, consistent and evidence-based outcomes.
- Identify gaps or inconsistencies in information and work with managers and colleagues to gather further evidence where needed.
- Prepare clear evaluation outcomes and contribute to moderation and quality assurance activities.
- Provide advice and guidance to managers, HR colleagues and Trade Union representatives throughout the evaluation process.
- Help maintain consistency, minimise organisational risk and support the successful delivery of this important programme.
How you'll work
Contract: Fixed term contract for 6 months
Hours: Full time, 37 hours per week
Closing date: 16 November 2026
