The role
Sheffield City Council's City Futures Directorate is at the forefront of delivering inclusive, sustainable growth across Sheffield. As part of the Regeneration and Development Service, Property Services supports major regeneration and development projects, housing growth, strategic asset management, estate management and the effective use of the Council's land and property assets to deliver better outcomes for residents, businesses and communities. We are therefore looking to recruit an enthusiastic Property Technician to strengthen the team and support this important work. Experience in a property-related setting would be an advantage, AssocRICS accreditation would be welcomed, although it is not essential, and training will be provided where appropriate.
As a Property Technician with Sheffield City Council you will undertake a variety of tasks. Your day-to-day role will be to support a multi-skilled team by:
- Producing land ownership plans and schedules utilising data from the Council's GIS system and Land Registry
- Using Computer Aided Design (CAD) to produce Land Registry compliant plans for legal transactions
- Collate, interpret and analyse data for use in valuations of land and property for a variety of purposes such as acquisitions and disposals, residential sales under the Right to Buy legislation, acquisitions for the Councils Housing Stock Increase Programme and for accounting purposes.
- Undertaking research and providing information to update and improve the Council's asset data records management system, Civica.
- Contributing to the efficient operation of the Council's commercial estate, dealing with requests for landlord's consents, new lettings, rent reviews, debt recovery and inspections to ensure tenant compliance with lease/tenancy terms.
- Investigating encroachments boundary issues and related property enquiries by reviewing ownership records, preparing plans and correspondence, liaising with internal and external contacts, and helping to achieve practical, timely resolutions.
As important as your technical skills will be your customer focus, willingness to collaborate and ability to communicate effectively with property developers and investors, senior officers, elected Council Members and the public. Regularly dealing with customer enquiries you will also provide advice and information to quickly resolve any issues.
Further details are available in the Job Description.
