The role

At Samworth Brothers Supply Chain, we're looking for a strong operational leader who thrives in a fast-paced warehouse environment and is passionate about delivering results through people, safety, and continuous improvement. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Warehouse Supervisor, Shift Manager, or Section Manager ready to take ownership of a large-scale operation and play a key role in delivering exceptional service performance. As Warehouse Section Manager, you will support the Warehouse Operations Manager by taking direct ownership of shift operations, ensuring safe, efficient, and high-performing delivery across the warehouse. You'll lead Team Leaders and operational colleagues, making real-time decisions to maintain service levels, drive productivity, and achieve key business objectives.

This is a hands-on leadership role where you'll be responsible for creating a positive safety culture, developing high-performing teams, and ensuring operational excellence across a busy chilled warehouse environment.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead and manage day-to-day warehouse operations, ensuring service, quality, and productivity targets are consistently achieved.
  • Drive a proactive Health & Safety culture, ensuring compliance with legislation, risk assessments, and safe systems of work.
  • Coach, support, and develop Team Leaders and colleagues to maximise performance and engagement.
  • Monitor operational KPIs, using data and reporting to identify opportunities for improvement and corrective action.
  • Collaborate with Transport, Planning, QSHE, Suppliers, and internal stakeholders to deliver exceptional customer service.

About You

We believe success comes from collaboration and diverse perspectives. At Samworth Brothers, we value team players who are driven to achieve great results together. You'll bring the following skills and experience:

  • Proven leadership experience within a fast-paced chilled, frozen, or food distribution warehouse operation.
  • Strong knowledge of warehouse processes, resource planning, Warehouse Management Systems (WMS), and MHE operations.
  • Demonstrable experience managing Health & Safety and driving a positive safety culture.
  • Ability to lead teams through change while maintaining operational performance.
  • Strong communication, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
  • Leadership experience managing supervisors, team leaders, or operational teams.
  • IOSH Managing Safely (or higher).
  • HACCP Level 2 qualification.

We're building a workplace where different ways of thinking are not just welcomed but supported, with clear communication, flexible processes, and a commitment to continuous improvement so everyone can thrive.
