The role

Job overview

We are looking for a candidate with a BSc (Hons) degree in Optometry with ideally at least 1 year post qualification experience. Previous clinical research or hospital experience is an advantage but not essential. Full training will be given.

Working closely with the ERGO team, other Research Optometrists, and Ophthalmologists. Some liaison with the Optometry Department of The Oxford Eye Hospital in order to deliver a comprehensive range of core optometric services to the highest standards of quality and care.

Main duties of the job

Join a leading ophthalmic research team delivering pioneering clinical trials, including Advanced Therapy Medicinal Product (ATMP) programmes such as gene and cell therapy studies. The post holder will undertake a range of specialised optometric assessments for research participants, including refraction, advanced visual field testing using fundus-tracked and full-field perimetry, detailed colour vision assessment, retinal imaging and other innovative outcome measures.

Working as part of a multidisciplinary research team, you will play a key role in supporting the delivery of cutting-edge treatments and contributing to the development of future therapies for patients with sight-threatening conditions. This is an exciting opportunity to gain experience in world-leading clinical research while working with novel technologies and highly specialised assessment techniques.
