The role

About the role

Are you passionate about using data, network knowledge and problem-solving to make a real difference to leakage performance? We're looking for a Network Analyst to join our Leakage Strategy team, supporting leakage performance across Essex & Suffolk Water.

You'll monitor and analyse leakage and network performance across our District Metered Areas (DMAs), using flow, pressure, telemetry and operational data to identify changes, investigate issues and help determine where operational activity should be focused.

You'll play an important role in ensuring our network is operable, measurable and understood, investigating data quality, metering, logging, network configuration and unusual changes in performance. Working closely with Leakage Technicians, Data Analysts and operational teams, you'll turn analysis into practical actions that support leakage reduction.

Alongside day-to-day performance and investigation, you'll have opportunities to support wider Leakage Strategy projects, improve dashboards and processes, develop our use of data and automation, and help shape how we manage leakage in the future.

About You

You'll be naturally curious and analytical, with the confidence to look beyond the headline number and ask why something has changed.

You'll enjoy working with data and solving problems, but you'll also understand that effective leakage management requires collaboration with the people operating and maintaining the network. You'll therefore be comfortable building relationships with operational colleagues and translating technical analysis into clear, practical recommendations.

Experience within water networks, leakage, DMA management, network performance, telemetry or another technical/data environment would be advantageous, but we wouldn't expect every candidate to arrive with experience in every area.

We're particularly interested in people who can demonstrate:

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to investigate complex or conflicting information.

  • An ability to interpret network, flow, pressure, telemetry and performance data and turn this into meaningful operational insight.

  • Good attention to detail and an understanding of the importance of accurate, auditable data.

  • Confidence communicating findings and recommendations to both technical and non-technical colleagues.

  • The ability to work collaboratively with analysts, technicians, operational teams and wider business stakeholders.

  • A proactive approach to identifying issues and following investigations through rather than simply reporting that a problem exists.

  • An interest in improving processes, systems and ways of working.

  • The ability to manage changing priorities and provide technical support during periods of operational pressure.

Experience with tools such as Power BI, Power Query, Power Automate or other data visualisation/automation tools would be beneficial, as would experience of water-industry network systems and leakage analysis. However, development and training can be provided for the right candidate.

Most importantly, we're looking for someone who is inquisitive, technically minded and willing to challenge what the data is telling us. You'll be joining an experienced team with significant knowledge of leakage and water networks, with opportunities to learn from colleagues while developing your own technical expertise.
