At Northumbrian Water and Essex & Suffolk Water, our customers are at the heart of everything we do. Every day, we provide essential water and wastewater services to millions of people, and we are committed to delivering reliable, affordable and sustainable services while supporting our communities and protecting the environment. By focusing on the outcomes that matter most to our customers, we are also working towards our ambition to be the National Leader in sustainable water and wastewater services.
We are building a dedicated team to create our PR29 business plan, which will set out what we will deliver for customers and the environment, and the investment needed to achieve it, between 2030 and 2035. We are recruiting a number of key roles to join this team, offering an exciting opportunity to work with colleagues across Northumbrian Water, influence important decisions and help develop an ambitious and compelling plan that delivers lasting value for our customers and communities.
About the role
We have new opportunities for Asset Managers, a role which will help shape the future investment programme for AMP9.
This is a unique opportunity to play a key role in developing our PR29 investment programme and transforming operational needs, asset risks and strategic objectives into deliverable investment solutions. Working at the centre of Tactical Planning, Strategic Planning, Operations, Capital Delivery and Programme Management, you'll help ensure our future investment plans deliver the right outcomes for customers, communities and the environment.
You will provide asset management leadership across a portfolio of water assets, ensuring inclusions in the PR29 plan are evidence-based, risk-driven and aligned to strategic service delivery objectives.
You will ensure asset intelligence, risk assessments, performance forecasts and stakeholder priorities are translated into robust business cases and investment recommendations that support a smooth transition from planning into AMP9 delivery.
You will review operational performance, asset health and service risks to ensure interventions are aligned with business objectives and service delivery strategies and develop robust intervention proposals, including scope definition, options appraisal, cost estimates, risk assessments and deliverability considerations.
As Asset Manager, you will support investment optimisation activities, including cost-benefit assessment, prioritisation and portfolio planning through corporate investment systems and lead the creation and progression of urgent interventions arising from operational risk or emerging business needs.
About you
You will have proven experience within asset management, engineering, operational or technical environments and a strong understanding of risk-based decision making and whole-life asset management principles.
You can analyse complex information and translate insight into practical investment decisions, and have experience working within structured governance, planning or investment processes.
You have excellent stakeholder management and influencing skills, with the confidence to challenge constructively and drive positive outcomes, with strong communication skills, and the ability to present information clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences.
You will have an HNC, Foundation Degree or similar relevant professional qualification, or equivalent professional experience.
We will be hosting an Open Evening session to learn more about PR29 roles at our Northumbria House office in Pity Me, Durham on Tuesday 10th November 2026. Please register your interest at: recruitment@nwl.co.uk
Please note this role will require a DBS to be completed prior to employment.
