The role

Bexley sees the potential for unprecedented levels of new development, including up to 31,500 new homes over the next few decades. Two of London's Opportunity Areas fall within the borough, and this is a particularly exciting time for managing how Bexley's huge development potential will be realised.

The Councils Building Control team deliver the statutory Building Control functions as well as dealing with the majority of the building regulations applications in the borough. The Building Control sector has experienced significant change following the Grenfell Enquiry and the introduction of the Building Safety Act. Bexley is well placed to meet these challenges with an ambitious service improvement plan which has ensured the successful registration of its building inspectors and continuing investment in staff and processes to further enhance professional standards and customer service.

In connection with this, the team requires a building control compliance officer to investigate alleged or identified cases of non-compliance of the Building Regulations and dangerous structures, managing the cases from initial investigation through to resolution, including the pursuit of enforcement action and cost recovery where appropriate. You will help cultivate good working relationships with key internal and many external partners as well as offering excellent customer service.

Please refer to the Job Description attached for more information.
