The role

The Home Office works to build a safe, fair and prosperous UK. We achieve this through our work on counter-terrorism, policing, crime, drugs policy, immigration and passports.

Immigration Enforcement is responsible for enforcing the government's immigration laws, tackling illegal migration, removing foreign national offenders and immigration offenders from the UK. We also aim to disrupt the organised criminal groups that exploit the vulnerable for their personal gain. Learn more on our careers pages.

The role is within the Incident and Counter Corruption Hub (ICCH) in Detention Operations, which is part of Detention Services. You will be part of a team holding oversight responsibility for all incidents which occur across the Immigration Removal Centres (IRC).

This is exciting opportunity to join a dynamic team and develop your skills and experience within a varied and fast-paced environment.

You will support in a variety of tasks related to pre-incident preparation and post-incident management, identifying trends and upholding the safety of all those within IRCs. You will assist in monitoring the performance of Contracted Service Providers to ensure that they appropriately prepare, report and respond to incidents in IRCs, in line with Home Office expectations, contractual obligations and published standards and policies.

This role has a high-level of Ministerial, Parliamentary and public interest. Furthermore, frequent liaison with other Immigration Enforcement (IE), Home Office (HO) and Contracted Service Providers is important. You will also need to have a keen eye for detail, a strong willingness to learn and understand Detention Services (DS) policies and framework, which are both pivotal aspects of the role.

You must be physically fit as you will be required to complete Personal Safety Training that must be refreshed annually.

With appropriate training and support, this will provide opportunities to broaden both your experience and skill set.

Will include but are not limited to:

  • Taking ownership of the Incident Oversight Inbox and keeping an accurate record of all incidents which occur across the estate, ensuring senior managers are kept up to date of any trends and developments.

  • Engaging in Contingency plan exercises and playing an active role in the development of exercises to test plans.
  • Conducting trend analysing on incident data and providing reports to senior management.
  • Ability to produce and manage a variety of Excel Dashboards to aid oversight and inform decision making.
  • Collate information for incident debriefs, drafting agendas, taking minutes and producing draft reports for the HEO.
  • Providing support to the OK9 Wellbeing Support Dog pilot scheme.
