Pastry Commis Chef

We're currently recruiting for a talented Pastry Commis Chef to join our Production Kitchens here at Harrods. Working alongside our skilled pastry chefs, you'll help create exceptional patisserie products for our world-renowned Food Halls, ensuring every item reflects the quality, creativity, and attention to detail expected at Harrods.

As a Pastry Commis Chef, you'll be an important part of our pastry team, supporting the daily production of an extensive range of high-quality pastries and desserts for our customers to enjoy.

• Working closely with the Demi Chef de Partie, Chef de Partie, and senior pastry chefs, you'll develop your technical skills while helping your section operate smoothly and efficiently. You'll follow established recipes and production requirements, maintaining consistently high standards across quality, flavour, presentation, food safety, and organisation.

• Completing daily production requirements as directed by the senior chef.
• Preparing the required mise en place to support a smooth and efficient production process.
• Checking that recipe and production information is accurate and raising any missing or incorrect details with the senior chef.
• Ensuring ingredients and finished products are stored, labelled, and rotated correctly.
• Following opening and closing procedures and escalating any issues appropriately.

This is a fully on-site role, working five days out of seven.

You'll be an enthusiastic and dependable pastry professional with a genuine interest in developing your skills within a high-quality production environment. You'll take pride in your work and understand the importance of consistency, precision, and attention to detail when creating exceptional patisserie products.

Organised and hardworking, you'll be comfortable following direction, managing your time effectively, and contributing to a supportive team environment. You'll remain focused during busy periods and approach feedback as an opportunity to learn and develop.

You'll bring:

• Previous experience in a professional pastry kitchen, bakery, patisserie, hotel, restaurant, or similar food production environment.
• A genuine passion for pastry and an interest in developing your technical knowledge.
• A basic understanding of pastry ingredients, preparation methods, and presentation.
• Consistent attention to detail across preparation, production, and presentation.
• An understanding of food safety, hygiene, allergen controls, stock rotation, and waste management.
