Here at GXO, we are currently recruiting for a Warehouse Operations Manager to join our team supporting our Birmingham Airport consolidation centre. As Operations Manager, you'll lead the operational delivery of our Birmingham Airport Consolidation Centre, ensuring the safe and compliant movement of cargo through the facility. Working closely with Supervisors, customers and key stakeholders, you'll drive colleague engagement, optimise resources, enhance operational performance and identify opportunities to improve service and efficiency across the operation.

What you'll do

  • Oversee daily warehouse, cargo handling and security screening operations, ensuring efficient resource allocation and service delivery
  • Monitor and drive operational performance through KPI management, reporting and continuous improvement initiatives
  • Build strong relationships with customers, airport stakeholders and operational partners, ensuring exceptional service and issue resolution
  • Ensure full compliance with aviation security, Health & Safety and regulatory requirements, maintaining the highest standards of quality and operational integrity

How you'll work

This is a full time, permanent position, working on an any 5 from 7 shift pattern, and the working hours will range from 02:00-10:00 or 04:00-12:00, (including weekends and public holidays as required) depending on the operational requirements, therefore flexibility is essential.

What you need to succeed at GXO

  • Experience in a people management or supervisory role within an airport environment (preferred), operations, logistics, retail, or a multi-site environment
  • Proven leadership experience within warehousing, logistics, aviation, or other fast-paced operational environments
  • Strong people management skills with the ability to coach, motivate, and develop high-performing teams.
  • Demonstrated success in driving operational performance, managing KPIs, and implementing continuous improvements
  • Excellent decision-making, problem-solving, and organisational skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities effectively
  • Commitment to operational excellence, safety, and compliance, ideally gained within a regulated environment such as aviation, cargo, or distribution
