The role

We are looking for a passionate Junior Sous Chef who enjoys working with fresh food and being part of a busy, collaborative team.

What you'll do

You'll support the daily production of our café food offer, preparing fresh, high-quality food for our museum visitors throughout the day.

  • Prepare and produce a range of fresh café food, including salads, sandwiches, paninis, soups and other grab-and-go items.
  • Follow recipes, specifications and presentation standards to ensure quality and consistency across the offer.
  • Plan and organise daily production to ensure products are fresh, well presented and available throughout service.
  • Work efficiently to meet production volumes and deadlines, particularly ahead of busy museum periods.
  • Monitor stock levels, rotate ingredients correctly and help minimise food waste through careful preparation and portion control.
  • Maintain high standards of food safety, hygiene and cleanliness, including allergen procedures and correct food storage.
  • Support the wider kitchen and café team during busy periods and contribute to a smooth and well-organised operation.
  • Contribute ideas for seasonal dishes and new café products, helping us keep the offer fresh, appealing and relevant to our visitors.

What you'll bring as Junior Sous Chef

Previous experience in a kitchen, café, deli, bakery or similar food production environment is desirable, although we're open to developing someone with the right attitude and passion for food.

You'll be comfortable working at pace and preparing food consistently to agreed specifications. You'll have a good eye for presentation, strong organisational skills and an understanding of food hygiene and allergen awareness.

Most importantly, you'll enjoy working as part of a team and take pride in producing fresh, great-looking food that our museum visitors can enjoy.

We encourage a one team approach, and willingness to get stuck in with all aspects of the restaurant from bar to floor.
