What you'll do

Your Role

As a Trading Standards Case Manager, you'll help protect residents and support honest businesses across Stockport. You'll investigate complaints, gather evidence, undertake inspections and enforcement activity, and work with partner agencies to tackle scams, rogue traders, counterfeit goods, illicit tobacco and vaping products, underage sales and unsafe products.

You'll manage a varied caseload from initial complaint through to resolution, helping deliver fair, proportionate and intelligence-led regulation that makes a real difference to local neighbourhoods.
The work is varied and rewarding, covering areas such as consumer vulnerability, financial exploitation, online trading, social media sales, product safety, scams and fraud prevention, and safeguarding vulnerable residents. You'll contribute to intelligence-led enforcement operations and work alongside regional and national partners to address emerging risks and protect those at most risk of harm.

About You

We're looking for someone who is analytical, resilient and motivated by protecting consumers and supporting legitimate business. You'll be an excellent investigator who can scrutinise information, manage competing priorities and make sound decisions in often complex situations. You'll be confident dealing with businesses, consumers and partner agencies and able to communicate clearly both verbally and in writing. With experience in Trading Standards compliance or enforcement, you'll bring a strong commitment to fair, proportionate regulation and excellent customer service.
