The role

We're partnering with an upper mid-market private equity-backed, multi-site healthcare business seeking an experienced Interim M&A Director to lead the execution of an ambitious buy-and-build strategy across the UK and internationally.

Working closely with the executive leadership team and private equity sponsor, you will take ownership of M&A execution across the deal lifecycle, helping identify, evaluate and execute acquisitions as the group continues to scale. This is a highly commercial, hands-on role requiring significant buy-side M&A experience, strong execution capability and the credibility to operate across management teams, shareholders, advisers and acquisition targets.

What you'll do

  • Lead the execution of acquisitions across the UK and international markets.
  • Manage transactions across the full deal lifecycle, from initial assessment through diligence, negotiation and completion.
  • Evaluate acquisition opportunities against the group's strategic and financial objectives.
  • Build and review financial models, valuations, investment cases and transaction analysis.
  • Lead financial, commercial, legal and operational due diligence workstreams.
  • Prepare investment papers and materials to support key transaction decisions.
  • Work closely with the executive team and private equity sponsor throughout the acquisition process.
  • Manage external advisers including investment banks, corporate finance advisers, accountants and lawyers.
  • Coordinate internal stakeholders to maintain momentum and deliver transactions against demanding timelines.
  • Support negotiations with vendors, shareholders and advisers through to completion.
  • Provide clear reporting on deal progress, risks and key decisions to senior stakeholders.

Candidate Profile

  • Significant M&A experience gained within corporate development, investment banking, private equity or transaction-focused roles.
  • Proven track record executing multiple buy-side transactions from initial evaluation through to completion.
  • Strong understanding of financial modelling, valuation, due diligence and transaction structuring.
  • Experience operating within a fast-paced buy-and-build environment highly desirable.
  • Exposure to healthcare, multi-site or similarly acquisition-led businesses advantageous.
  • International transaction experience highly desirable.
  • Experience working with private equity investors and senior management teams.
  • Strong commercial judgement with the ability to quickly assess the strategic and financial merits of acquisition opportunities.
  • Comfortable operating autonomously and driving multiple transactions in parallel.
