The role

Join a team where your expertise can help shape one of the UK's most significant nuclear new build projects. At EDF, Success is Personal. As a Mechanical Calculation Engineer, you'll play a key role in resolving complex engineering challenges at Hinkley Point C, helping deliver safe, reliable low-carbon electricity for generations to come.

The Opportunity

As a Mechanical Calculation Engineer, you'll support piping field design activities across the Hinkley Point C project. Working at the heart of on-site engineering delivery, you'll provide technical assessments, resolve installation challenges, and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to maintain progress against key project milestones while upholding the highest nuclear safety standards.

You’ll join us on a salary starting of £57,000 per annum. This is a hybrid role, with an expectation of spending 3–4 days per week at #HinkleyPointC. You'll work alongside experienced engineers and stakeholders across the project, giving you exposure to one of Europe's largest and most complex engineering programmes.

From advanced mechanical calculations and finite element analysis to supporting major infrastructure design decisions, you'll have opportunities to develop specialist expertise while contributing to EDF's journey towards An Electric Britain. You'll help solve real-world engineering challenges and play an important part in delivering the next generation of nuclear power stations.

EDF EPR Engineering UK delivers the design for nuclear island buildings, systems, and equipment for Hinkley Point C and similar projects. Working as part of an integrated team, EPR Engineering supports construction and commissioning while preparing design-replication feasibility and related engineering activities.

  • Working within multicultural engineering teams

To be appointed to this role, you will need to meet the criteria for Security Vetting, which will, ordinarily, require you to have been a resident of the UK for at least three of the past five years.

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Performing mechanical stress calculations, piping flexibility assessments and finite element analysis to support site activities
  • Producing technical calculations, reports and engineering documentation to support design and installation work
  • Providing technical responses to site queries, RFIs, NCRs and engineering challenges
  • Collaborating with civil, electrical, HVAC, equipment and installation teams to resolve engineering issues
