Audit & AssuranceWhat does this team do?
Audit & Assurance matters to everyone, even if you've never heard of it before. When a company shares its financial results and business information, people need to know that the reporting is accurate. That's where Audit & Assurance comes in. We check company financial reports independently, so the public, investors and businesses can trust what they're seeing. It's a job that protects people, and it genuinely makes a difference.
In rapidly-changing times, businesses need to be ready to face any challenges that come their way. This means they need to be more transparent with their reporting, in order to gain trust and confidence with the public. We provide independent assurance by assessing the risks and processes of an organisation, so they can make sound decisions and serve the public well. Our teams have skills and expertise across regulation, reporting, finance, controls, sustainability and AI, with a deep understanding of analytics.
What skills and academic qualifications do I need?
You'll need to have obtained or be studying towards at least 104 UCAS points (260 UCAS points pre-2017) for your A levels (or equivalent) to be eligible for this programme. We have identified 10 core skills that are essential to all of our roles in Early Careers. To learn more about these skills and their detailed descriptions, please visit the 'Discover What We Look For' section in our Candidate Zone.
What kind of work will I do?
We're offering an excellent four-year programme to give you the opportunity to gain insight into different areas of Assurance, as we develop the Assurance professionals of the future. By joining us you'll have the chance to work directly with major organisations, as well as building your skills through our excellent training programme. From providing support to small businesses right through to global corporations, the work we do is wide-ranging and no two days are ever the same. During the programme you will have the opportunity to work in one, or both, of the following Assurance areas -
- Accounting and Reporting Assurance (ARA): We ensure that businesses get their financial reporting right. Our teams make sure that companies and government organisations stay on the right side of the financial rules and keep up with the growing demands in regulation. You could join one of several teams here, including Regulatory Assurance, Actuarial, Credit, Pricing or our AI labs, all of which you'll learn about on the job. It's a great place to build strong analytical skills and see how businesses really work.
- Controls, Sustainability and Emerging Assurance (C&SEA): Our teams look into things like sustainability reporting, how well companies are regulating their clients' money, and review the systems they're using to report their data. You could join teams like Algo and AI Assurance, Third Party Assurance, Sustainability Assurance or Client Assets and Safeguarding. If you care about doing work that builds trust and makes a difference, this could be the place for you.
