The role

Loans Manager

Charlton Athletic Football Club | Men's First Team

Help turn the right loan move into a defining step in a player's development.

A successful loan needs the right environment, clear objectives and someone who stays closely involved. At Charlton Athletic, we're looking for a Loans Manager who can bring those elements together, helping players return better equipped for the demands of first-team football.

What you'll do

Reporting to the Head of Individual Development, you'll work closely with the First Team Manager, Managing Director and Academy Manager to support the Club's loan strategy. You'll connect our men's first team, U21s and academy programmes, helping create purposeful routes into senior football.

You'll help identify players who would benefit from a loan and assess potential clubs in the UK and overseas. From playing style and likely minutes to coaching quality and welfare provision, you'll look carefully at what each move can offer. Working with Football Operations, you'll support negotiations and ensure placements meet the relevant regulations.

Once a player is away, you'll be their main point of contact. Through match attendance, training-ground visits and regular individual reviews, you'll track progress and give practical feedback using video and performance data. You'll work with host clubs and our coaching, medical, performance and Player Care teams to support development and wellbeing throughout the loan.

Your insight will help shape decisions on recalls, extensions and each player's next step. You'll maintain accurate loan records, provide concise reports to football staff and contribute to due diligence on potential incoming loans. This is a role with direct influence on how the Club develops players and plans their progression.

We're looking for someone who knows the game, builds trusted relationships and cares about the individual behind each move. You'll combine sound football judgement with the organisation to manage several players, respond to changing circumstances and deliver under transfer-window pressure.

How you'll work

Salary: Up to £45,000pa
Contract: Perm| Hours: 40 per week
Sparrows Lane, New Eltham, London, SE9 2JR | Extensive travel, evenings and weekends

You'll bring

A proven track record in player development, loans, recruitment or football operations within a professional football club.

Knowledge of UK and overseas football, an established network and the judgement to assess suitable loan environments.

A working knowledge of FA, EFL, Premier League and FIFA loan and registration rules.

Confidence using Excel, PowerPoint and foSaveotball video and data platforms such as Impect, Catapult and Wyscout.

Strong communication and negotiation skills, discretion and a proactive, organised approach.

Experience managing loans at an EFL or Premier League club, supporting players aged 16-21, relevant coaching or scouting qualifications and additional languages would be an advantage.

If you want to help shape players' next steps and contribute to Charlton's men's first-team pathway, we'd like to hear from you.
