The role

The Prime Minister's Office enables the Prime Minister to deliver the Government's overall priorities and to communicate the Government's policies to Parliament, the public and international audiences. From the Policy Unit, Press Office, Switchboard and Custodians to the Events & Visits team and the Private Office support; the diverse No.10 team draws on varied expertise from across the Civil Service and beyond. The teams come together to deliver excellent service to the Prime Minister while also making No.10 a great place to work.

No.10 North is focused on delivering good growth in every postcode and ensuring that everyone has the opportunity to thrive, no matter where they live. No.10 North is the Prime Minister's centre for devolution, place, and local growth. Based in Manchester and working across the United Kingdom, it connects places directly to the centre of government. It brings together local leaders, HM Treasury and other government departments to resolve problems that no single organisation can solve alone.

The Strategy and PMO team provides the leadership, governance, and coordination backbone of No.10 North. The team supports senior leaders, drives strategic planning, oversees programme delivery, and ensures the organisation remains focused on its priorities. Working across governance, performance, business management, people and private office functions, the team coordinates activity across No.10 North and the wider Office of the Prime Minister and Cabinet, helping to turn ambitious priorities into effective delivery.

We are seeking two high-performing Strategy, Delivery and PMO Officers to join the Strategy & PMO function. Working directly to the Grade 7 Strategy, Delivery and PMO Lead, the postholders will help ensure No.10 North's priorities are translated into clear plans, supported by robust governance, and delivered effectively. This is a varied role that combines elements of strategy, delivery management, programme management office (PMO) and organisational coordination. Successful candidates will work across a broad range of issues, supporting senior leaders to maintain oversight of delivery, identify emerging challenges and ensure effective decision-making.

We are looking for individuals who are curious, adaptable and delivery focused. You will be comfortable moving between strategic thinking and practical implementation, bringing structure to ambiguity, and helping senior leaders maintain a clear view of progress and performance.

You will enjoy working at the centre of an organisation, building relationships across teams, solving problems, and ensuring that priorities are translated into effective action. You will be equally comfortable preparing a briefing for a senior leader, coordinating a governance meeting, analysing delivery data, or helping teams overcome barriers to delivery.

What you'll do

  • Support the development and implementation of No.10 North's strategic priorities.
  • Help translate organisational objectives into clear delivery plans, milestones, and performance measures.
  • Support business planning and priority-setting processes.
  • Identify cross-cutting themes, dependencies, and opportunities across teams.
  • Monitor progress against organisational priorities and key commitments.
  • Produce reporting, analysis, and insight to support senior decision-making.
  • Track milestones, deliverables, and actions across multiple workstreams.
  • Support problem-solving and recovery planning where delivery risks emerge.
  • Support governance arrangements, leadership meetings, and decision-making forums.
  • Coordinate agendas, papers, actions, and forward work plans.
  • Maintain delivery, risk, issue, and dependency tracking products.
  • Help develop and improve PMO tools, templates, and reporting processes.
  • Work across policy, engagement, and operational teams to support joined-up delivery.
  • Coordinate requests for information, updates, and briefing material.
  • Support implementation of organisational change and improvement initiatives.
  • Contribute to building a strong culture of delivery, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
  • Build effective working relationships across No.10 North and partner organisations.
  • Engage with colleagues across central government, local government, and delivery partners.
  • Prepare high-quality briefings and papers for senior leaders.
  • Support engagement with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders.
