You will have the following:
Proven experience in a pre-construction, construction management, engineering or project delivery role within civil engineering or infrastructure.
A strong understanding of the project lifecycle, from tendering and early-stage development through to construction delivery.
Experience coordinating multidisciplinary teams and managing competing priorities.
The ability to develop and evaluate construction methodologies, programmes, risks and delivery solutions.
Strong commercial awareness and an understanding of the factors that influence successful bids and project outcomes.
Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to build effective relationships with clients and colleagues.

A commitment to delivering projects safely, sustainably and to the highest standards.
The role
At Balfour Beatty, we’re proud to deliver the infrastructure that connects communities, drives economic growth and helps shape the world we live in. We’re looking for an ambitious and commercially minded Pre-Construction Manager to join our Regional Civils team in the North West, where you’ll have the opportunity to influence exciting projects from the earliest stages and help turn opportunities into successful infrastructure schemes.
This is a fantastic opportunity to play a pivotal role in our growing portfolio, bringing together technical expertise, commercial awareness and strategic thinking to develop compelling, deliverable and competitive solutions. Working alongside our work winning, engineering, commercial and operational teams, you’ll help shape projects from initial opportunity through to contract award, ensuring we put forward the right solutions for our clients and the communities we serve.
If you thrive on solving complex challenges, building strong client relationships and making a real impact before construction even begins, this could be the perfect next step in your career.
What you'll do
As a Pre-Construction Manager you will:
Leading and coordinating pre-construction activities across a varied portfolio of civil engineering and infrastructure projects.
Supporting the development of winning bids, working closely with work winning, estimating, planning, design and commercial teams.
Managing the development of construction methodologies, programmes, risk assessments and delivery strategies.
Identifying opportunities to improve buildability, efficiency, sustainability and overall project value.
Working collaboratively with clients, consultants, designers and supply chain partners to develop innovative and practical solutions.
Providing technical and operational input during tender reviews, ensuring proposals are realistic, competitive and aligned with client requirements.
Identifying and managing pre-construction risks, opportunities, constraints and interfaces.
Supporting Early Contractor Involvement (ECI) activities, where applicable, to influence project outcomes and strengthen client relationships.
