The role

Closing date: 27rd of October (midnight).

Interviews: held at Tor View School on Friday 30th October.

Are you an inspirational Teacher who is passionate about enhancing the provision for children and young people with special educational needs?

Tor View School are seeking to appoint a qualified Teacher who is committed to providing a welcoming, stimulating learning experience for all the pupils at our school. This post will work with YP with SEN as they prepare for adulthood, therefore experience in Post 14 SEN would be desirable.

To be successful you will be a creative, nurturing individual dedicated to ensuring that students' needs are met, providing them with a positive learning journey and helping them to achieve their aspirations. You will need to have experience of adapting lessons to make them accessible to all pupils while ensuring a high level of challenge. The school uses the TIS approach to underpin the learning environment and curriculum delivery and you will be well supported to use this within your own practice.

The role will involve you managing typical behaviours involving pupils with Special Educational Needs; therefore, experience of working with students with Autism and complex needs would be advantageous.

About the school

Tor View School is a very special school that enables young people with with Autism, trauma related interruptions, communication needs and learning difficulties to access an appropriate curriculum in a wonderful environment in the heart of Devon. With typical class sizes of 4 we are able to provide the care, attention, time and dedication to all of the young people to enable them to access education and reach their individual goals and aspirations.

We have been rated as 'Good' overall and 'Outstanding' in the assessment categories 'Behaviour and attitudes', 'Personal development' and 'Leadership and management' by Ofsted.

In the recent Ofsted report, inspectors said: 'Pupils shine at this happy and effective school. They feel valued and safe because staff understand their needs and how to meet them. Staff promote positive relationships very effectively. They secure a holistic view of pupils needs and challenges. This helps ensure that pupils benefit from tailored, personalised programmes of study.'
