What you'll be doing

  • Carrying out routine inspections, servicing, preventative maintenance and running repairs on buses and coaches
  • Diagnosing and repairing mechanical and electrical faults
  • Preparing vehicles for MOT and completing safety checks
  • Repairing vehicle defects promptly and to a consistently high standard
  • Maintaining vehicles in accordance with our operator's licence requirements
  • Completing maintenance records and other relevant documentation accurately
  • Organising and prioritising your workload effectively
  • Working independently and collaboratively with the wider engineering team
  • Maintaining high standards of health, safety and workmanship at all times

What you'll need

You should have either:

  • An SVQ or NVQ Level 3 qualification in Bus and Coach Engineering, Vehicle Maintenance or an equivalent discipline; or
  • At least two years' demonstrable experience repairing and maintaining public service vehicles or heavy goods vehicles

You will also need:

  • Strong fault-finding and problem-solving skills
  • The ability to work safely, efficiently and to a high standard
  • Good organisational and communication skills
  • The flexibility to work five days over seven
  • A full driving licence

A Category D PCV licence would be an advantage but is not essential, as we can support you in obtaining your licence.

Benefits

  • A permanent and secure position within an established transport business
  • Overtime for working a sixth day paid at time and a half
  • 30 days' paid holiday
  • Free travel for you and your family across the West Coast Motors network
  • Ongoing training and development
  • Support to obtain your Category D PCV licence, where required
  • Career-development opportunities

Ready to join us?

If you have experience maintaining buses, coaches or heavy vehicles and take pride in keeping vehicles safe and reliable, we would be pleased to hear from you.

Even if you do not meet every desirable criterion, we encourage you to apply if you have the relevant skills and experience to succeed in the role.

Safety is at the heart of what we do. As a safety-critical business, all roles play a part in keeping our people and passengers safe, and offers of employment are subject to a pre-employment drug and alcohol test.

West Coast Motors is an equal opportunities employer. We welcome applications from all suitably qualified individuals.
