We are seeking a motivated, reliable and well-organised individual to provide comprehensive technical and operational support to the Oxford Brain Bank (OBB). The successful candidate will play a key role in the preparation, processing, storage and management of human tissue samples, helping to maintain the quality and integrity of this valuable research resource.
The role involves a broad range of laboratory and tissue banking activities, including tissue embedding, paraffin and frozen sectioning, routine histological staining, immunohistochemistry, tissue archiving, quality control, database management and general laboratory administration. The postholder will be expected to work independently, manage competing priorities and maintain accurate records while ensuring compliance with relevant regulatory and safety requirements.
The postholder will work closely with the Director of the OBB, Professor Laura Parkkinen, and other members of the biobank team, including the Governance Manager, Research Access and Service Manager, Tissue Coordinator, neuropathologists, researchers and NHS staff. The position offers an opportunity to contribute to research into neurological diseases as part of a friendly, multidisciplinary team working in state-of-the-art facilities.
