The role

MultakaOxford, meaning 'meeting point' in Arabic, is an award-winning initiative that works in partnership with communities and organisations to bring people together through intercultural learning, mutual benefit, respect and inclusion.

You will plan, deliver and evaluate MultakaOxford activities at the History of Science Museum, working closely with staff, volunteer collaborators and partners to co-create projects, events, workshops and displays. You will develop inclusive and mutually beneficial partnerships with community organisations, researchers, university departments and heritage and cultural partners, helping diverse voices, stories and experiences to shape the Museum's work.

This is a full-time, fixed-term role, working 37.5 hours per week until 30th April 2029.

Due to the nature of this post, the successful candidate will be required to undertake a satisfactory Enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) due to working with vulnerable adults.

About You

You will have demonstrable experience of working within multicultural groups, including people who may be settling in the UK as refugees, seeking asylum, or who have experienced displacement or forced migration. You will have experience of collaborative and co-creative practice, with the ability to plan and deliver welcoming, caring, accessible and inclusive workshops, events and research activities.

You will have experience of bringing together university departments, researchers and academics with public engagement, heritage or cultural activity, and of supporting a range of stakeholders, including organisational partners and people volunteering their time, knowledge and expertise. You will communicate effectively with diverse audiences through verbal, written and digital channels, including presentations and report writing, and will be confident using MS Office and design packages such as Canva. You will be proficient in English and able to speak one or more additional languages.

Hiring process

You will be required to upload your CV and a supporting statement as part of your online application. Your supporting statement should list each of the essential and desirable selection criteria, as listed in the job description, and explain how you meet each one. Both documents must be submitted to be considered.

We aim to provide a supportive working environment and are happy to discuss training and professional development opportunities. The Chair of this recruitment panel will be Nicola Bird, MultakaOxford Project Lead, who can be contacted with enquiries relating to the role (nicola.bird@museums.ox.ac.uk). General queries about the recruitment and application process should be directed to the Recruitment team within our Human Resources department (recruitment@glam.ox.ac.uk).

Only applications received online by 12.00 midday GMT on Monday 26th October 2026 can be considered. Interviews are expected to take place on Friday 20th November 2026.
