We have two exciting new roles within the prostate cancer diagnostic service for enthusiastic nurses that will support the current team in our vision of a largely nurse-led local anaesthetic trans perineal (LATP) prostate biopsy service.
The post holder will support Prostate Cancer Diagnostics across UHB and be part of a wider Uro-Oncology Team. The Prostate Cancer team delivers care across Queen Elizabeth, Heartlands, Solihull and Good Hope Hospitals and it would be expected the successful candidate would be present on all of these sites across their working week.
The successful post holder can expect to receive training to become competent and independent, if not already, to provide LATP biopsies. This process will occur over 12 months after which it would be expected that the successful post holder transition to Band 8a LATP nurse. Therefore, this is considered a developmental role. If competence is not achieved within 12 months they will remain at band 7 until achievement.
The successful post holder will also be expected to triage and provide independent prostate cancer follow up clinics as well as developing within the wider Urology CNS team to progress into this role. The role will be key in the delivery of Nurse Led Diagnostics in the UHB Prostate Cancer Pathway.
The main duties of the role will be to deliver independent LATP prostate biopsies.
